Performance Measures of Hierarchical Cellular Networks on Queuing Handoff Calls
نویسندگان
چکیده
Hierarchical Cellular Networks provide an enhanced use of the indoor networks. These two lower layers called picocell and femtocell consist both high and low speed users. To prevent the dropping and blocking probabilities of ongoing calls in a network, cells are spitted into the small sizes. Although, many effective approaches are used but these delaying calls reach in a queue until a channel becomes available. In this paper, we propose M/M/C Markov model for two low layers of HCN having a FIFO queue in the femtocell layer and picocell layer, thereby comparing with a queue and without a queue. The effect of having a queue in the femtocell and picocell on both high and low speed users is observed. Keyword—Hierarchical Cellular Network (HCN), Blocking Probability, Markov Model, FIFO queue, Two low layer (picocell and femtocell).

Adaptive call admission control and resource allocation in multi server wireless/cellular network
The ever increasing demand of the subscribers has put pressure on the capacity of wireless networks around the world. To utilize the scare resources, in the present paper we propose an optimal allocation scheme for an integrated wireless/cellular model with handoff priority and handoff guarantee services. The suggested algorithm optimally allocates the resources in each cell and dynamically adj...
متن کاملPrioritization Schemes in Queuing Handoff and New Calls to Reduce Call Drops in Cellular Systems
This paper proposes different queuing scenarios to avoid dropping of handoff and new calls in a cellular phone network, which is essential when the network has certain restrictions on the available frequencies. This limitation degrades the performance of the system and more sites are required to achieve the desired capacity and coverage. However, this leads to a higher percentage of call drops ...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Cellular Wireless Network by Queuing Priority Handoff calls
In this paper, a mathematical model is proposed to estimate the dropping probabilities of cellular wireless networks by queuing handoff instead of reserving guard channels. Usually, prioritized handling of handoff calls is done with the help of guard channel reservation. To evaluate the proposed model, gamma inter-arrival and general service time distributions have been considered. Prevention o...

In this paper, we report our recent work on closed form solutions to the blocking and dropping probability in wireless cellular networks with handoff. First, we develop a performance model of a cell in a wireless network where the effect of handoff arrival and the use of guard channels are included. Fast recursive formulas for the loss probabilities of new calls and handoff calls are given. Alg...
متن کاملModeling and analysis of queuing handoff calls in single and two-tier cellular networks
Two-tier cellular networks consist of a group of contiguous microcells overlaid by a macrocell. This design provides an enhanced use of the networks’ resources for both high and low speed users because of the availability of additional channels. However, this causes an increase in the number of handoffs between cells due to having smaller cell sizes in the microcell tier. Since, handoff call bl...
